The 5 video set, “Building Big” with David Macaulay is an excellent overview of human’s accomplishments in building. If you appreciate architecture, and especially if you are endeavoring to raise a youngster’s awareness of this art form, this video set is something you’ll want to own so that you can keep going back to it periodically. It explains in clear and vibrant terms how and why our structures are made the way they are. The catch is the 6th video – which is what is meant by “educational curriculum”. At the end of each of the original 5 videos in this set, there is a section for children with activities for you to build small scale examples (bridges, domes, tunnels, dams and skyscrapers) to learn in a hands-on way the principles involved. The 6th video is simply a repeat of this material. The 6th video – “Building Big and Thinking Small” should be sold separately.
