As a longtime Montessori educator, it is rare to come across something that lets me see Montessori and Montessori education from a fresh new perspective. A German manufacturer of children’s furntiure was going through its warehouses in preparation for opening a museum of the history of children’s furniture. They discovered several crates, which turned out to be full of Montessori furniture and materials from just before WWII. This led to this book, which is an examination mainly of the design elements and philosophy of both the materials and the school environments. This book is published with German and English side-by-side, and contains many great photos.
